wild life...

I live next to hyenas...nice and pleasant hyenas but hyenas nonetheless. Every night, it starts. HAAAAAHAAAAHAAHAAAAA!! Every night. I am not sure what is that funny. I think they are watching tv, but I can't find anything quite that funny.

When my mom was here, she got to hear it. And then, we started laughing. And hooting. An interesting thing about me and my mom, when we start laughing at each other, we can't stop. Soon, our hoots (we're owls) drowned out the hyenas, and there was quiet for a few days.

When I was single and living in downtown Portland - the neighbors who lived above me always made a heck of a lot of noise Friday night - no, it wasn't hyena laughing, but sounded like they were roller skating above my head - either that or playing marbles across the floor. So bizarre.

I think in these instances, we must drink more Guiness!!!! It's only 125 calories!!!!

I used to live next to the Washington Zoo in Washington, DC, and we could hear the bonobos screaming.

When we lived in Baltimore we once stopped for a neighborhood parade. One of the features was a group of people parodying neighbor noises. They made loud banging noises and sex sounds. We recognized our downstairs neighbor marching right down the St. Charles Street there in the neighborhood.

Whoops. Guess we were loud. We had developed quite a reputation, first for loud sex in Baltimore and then for loud arguments in Washington.

C'est la vie (i think). God, I'm an old man now.....

Karmyn...very odd. When my last roommate moved in, we decided I had a ghost...the next day I asked if he was moving furniture upstairs at x time? He said, no, he was fast asleep! hmmm..however..when his wife finally was able to come over from Germany, it definitely was NOT furniture I heard!! I had just met her and had teased him endlessly before she got there, so I brought it up to him and they covered the vent!!

matt, sounds like you had more fun in Baltimore!! but, what is a bonobo?

Willow, you would think..but these folk neither drink or smoke! How the hell can they be having so much fun????

Pamela, every once in a while here, I hear a dog yelping, and I can't tell if it's physical pain, or that it doesn't want to be left behind. I too would rather hear the bonobos..

First, yes, I figured out that you, Claudia, were the blogger formerly known as C...as I fast or what?
Second, we had neighbors who were very noisy, what they were doing, I don't know, but, I bought a cuckoo clock that cuckooed every 15 minutes and hung it on our shared paper-thin aparment wall.
That stopped their noise but then I couldn't decide which was worse, their noise or that darn bird.

k, you are a veritable fount of information!!

Swampy, just making sure...that's funny about the cuckoo clock. I have an alarm clock that sounds like a rooster that my mom got for me when I left for college..i don't use it much anymore but it sure works

I have never seen a hyena outside of the zoo (and the movie The Lion King) and I have never heard them laugh. I bet it's an experience.

DG..come visit!! You'll experience the laughter yourself!
