feelin' groovy on a friday...

Ah, some mornings are meant to be savored. One of my favorite things in the world is taking my time in the mornings. Today, I lay in bed for a while, just lay there under the warm covers watching the sun filtering through the shades. Finally, I was ready to get up...fed the kitty and then sauntered into the kitchen, stepping over all my stuff strewn all over the place, to make my cup of coffee. I am addicted to my morning coffee. I have a little stovetop espresso maker. I use Cuban coffee...if I get close to running out, I have Mom send me more from Florida. I've got Bob Marley playing...
I look around. Yes, my apartment is a mess. Yes, I need to clean. And yes, it will wait. Right now, I have some serious lounging to do.

One of the things I aspire to own is a hammock. I've wanted one for ages. I don't really have the room for it, but that doesn't stop me wanting one. For me, it is the perfect icon of lounging. Have you ever just lay in a hammock, under the trees, looking up at the sky without the need or pressure of thinking about all the things you have to get done? Pure bliss, my friends...pure bliss. Like I said...one day....

That's how mornings SHOULD be.

We do have a hammock in the yard. The boys love it. They often beg to sleep in it all night.

Why don't I have a hammock? Besides the fact that I would probably fall asleep in it and die a horrible strangulation death.

the trick with a true hammock is having the trees to put it between. You can't just buy one of the cheesy ones free standing ones - you need a real on as seen in your picture. Do you have the trees to work it?

Kila, I would want to sleep in the hammock too if I had one!!

Mist, I have faith in you that you won't do that!

DG...I agree that it can't be freestanding...but dude...I have no trees...I do have a 6 foot fence however...trees, posts...hammocks have got to hang from something that is stuck in the ground...

My big sister in my college sorority's claim to fame was that her grandfather (great grandfather? great-great????) invented the Pawleys Island hammock. If that's the truth, it might explain their vast wealth...

I'm addicted to my morning coffee, too, but have never had Cuban. For us, we lurve our Dunkin' Donuts mail order (no locations nearby :( ).

Sounds like one heckuva TGIF :).

wow...you had a brush with fame! did you get a hammock??

The coffee I make is not for everyone...it's very strong...one way you know it's right is if it leaves a stain on the coffee cup...:)
sigh..now my morning is over and I have to get myself to school and work...

Yep, had a hammock. Loved it. Tied it between two deck posts (it was a really high deck). Thanks, you just reminded me of a post I could do.

I tried laying in a hammock once, and fell out.

I never tried again. ;)

Willow...nice. Do you still have one?

Steve...I have some pics somewhere...a series of shots of a guy that rolled out of a hammock. God, it was funny!!!

Sounds like a fantastic morning. I love those lazy days.

No, no hammock up here, too many flies here to enjoy it.

While I think of it, Cuban coffee leaving stain in the coffee cup isn't so bad. What bothers me is Cuban food, now that leaves a stain in the toilet bowl.

Sounds wonderful! - yes, the hammock, but really just the laying in and getting up when YOU wanted to. those were the days (prekids)

Wherever you are there is a backpacking shop and you can get a hammock that works perfectly fine for about $10 and up.

http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?storeId=8000&vcat=REI_SEARCH&query=hammock&x=23&y=15

Here's the rei reference to one on sale for $10 and 6 more. I hang mine in the house. Enjoy.

Willowtree...mmm...Cuban food!! I love that too...what's a little food to clean the system out? Too bad about the flies though!!

Karmyn...pre-kids...if I ever do have kids I will remember this...I might as well enjoy it will I can, right?

CEO..I just went on there and found the one I like...I've got to get a few answers but to quote an 80's icon ....WHOA!!!

Part of being part of a blog is something like if we don't all hang together then we'll all hang alone, or something. I don't know. If it's smart, ask Odat, she's smart.

Odat...Thanks! I could use it!

Ceo...you are funny.
