Earlier this week, we were blessed with sun and 75 degree weather. Fabulous. Today, the California winter has returned with a vengeance. Dull gray skies push down, shrouding the hilltops; the rain just started. The little red geraniums I bought the other day add a splash of color in an otherwise dreary day.

It's depressing. This type of weather, while occasionally a nice welcome, also dampens any motivation I might have had to get anyting done. I've turned on all the lights inside to try and fool myself that there is some brightness right now. But I know it's only a substitute. I have to push through this and make myself do things. It's not what I want, but it's what I need to do to feel better. Sitting around sipping from a mug of hot chocolate sounds much better. Life goes on.

Yea - what's up with the weather?

We had 70° on Saturday and then yesterday morning I woke up to frost. My poor little crocus. And, it isn't helping my cold.

However - the antibiotics have kicked in nicely.

Matt...I know, you don't have much sympathy but crap weather is crap weather anywhere you might be....

Karm...being further south, I think our frost is over but it's not helping my cold and sinuses either. guhr....

We need to have enough money to follow the sun and have a perpetual summer.

The sun will come out, tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow, there'll be sun
Jus' thinkin' about, tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow
'Til there's none

When I'm stuck with the day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say, ohhh

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away

Claudia, there's nothing wrong with treating yourself to a hot chocolate every now and then either. Perhaps you can schedule your day so that you reward yourself in this manner after doing such-and-such. Let the chocolate motivate you, instead of the sun.

Pamela...stephanie has rubbed off, hasn't she?? :)

Melissa, I'd pick 70 and sunny!!

Mouse...you're lucky, you like the cold. I shrivel into a little ball.

Sam-girl...it would be, if I had someone nice to cuddle with!!

Etain...thanks!! I think it worked cuz the sun's out today!! :)

Dan...the problem is that I don't want to do anything when the weather turns nasty like that...and no amount of motivation gets me going--not even chocolate! GASP!

I like the cold but with a leaking roof and latent depression I do not like rain!

Claudia said...

Mouse, I think that's what happens to me with the rain...depression sets in. When i lived in Baltimore, I loved the snow, but hated the cold dreary gray days. I hope you get the roof fixed soon!

If schadenfreude makes you feel any better, we're rejoicing at the 34 degree weather we're having right now.

How I envy you.
