New Job

A few weeks ago, almost a month, really, I answered an ad I saw online for a photographer that needed a p/t studio manager. Being one of those online ads, it did not list the photographer so I sent in my information with a bit of reservation and very low expectations. I mean, I'd answered ads like this before and the usual response was no response. Nothing. Not even a No Thank You or FU email. Nothing. Without a contact person, it's like sending your information out into a void with no idea if it's a legitimate request or what. But, when I saw the ad, I thought to myself, "Ah, what the hell...I'll give it a shot."

And whaddayaknow!! About a week later, I actually got a callback!  And an interview! And a job!! Yes, I got the job! We really hit it off and chatted the entire interview, almost as if we already knew each other and were just catching up.

So far it's been great. It's my second week and I have a ton of things to do and learn and we work together, hopping from one thing to the next, then back again, and getting things done. I can say, without a doubt, I am so happy to be working with her. I love her work and also the fact that she combines commercial photography and fine art. She has been working as a photographer for over 20 years and still loves what she does and continues to explore and experiment, expanding her creativity. I go into work excited about the day, thinking and planning about what needs to get done or what we need to work on and how can I help to make it happen. I love it.

C, it really does. It's a positive cycle-I like my boss, feel appreciated and work better which in turn makes my boss appreciate etc.

Odat, THANKS!!

I'm excited for you.

(You're right about any kind of blind ad -- always hear horror stories!)
